Our Mission

We are a nonprofit charitable organization based in the United States empowering the livelihood of visually challenged people in India through the Indian Association for the Blind. Our goal is to enable them to become self-reliant. Out of 39 million visually challenged individuals in the world, 12 million (one-third) are in India. Many still struggle to go to school, as they cannot afford needed resources or assistive devices. We need your help and support in creating a change to this pattern! Our mission lies in making the world more accessible, more aware and less difficult for the visually challenged.

Our INSPIRATION

A leader, a majestic personality and a man with a mission, Mr. S.M.A Jinnah paved the way for Ability and has been instrumental in making it what it is today. Despite his humble roots, Mr. Jinnah managed to overcome the obstacles life put forth and created an uplifting community that remembers his contribution and honours his memory through service and love.
HOW DO WE USE THE
FUND WE RECEIVE?

EDUCATION
We ensure that every visually challenged student in our community has access to education and we provide them with financial support so they can continue pursuing schooling from reputed schools & NGOs. It covers tuition and hostel fees, including boarding and lodging expenses. We also help them carve out their career paths to grant them autonomy.

MEALS FOR THE SCHOOL GOING
Fundamental education is a privilege when hunger is existent.
This is why we provide financial support to the members of our community in India for the supply of nutritious and fresh food in schools. We aim to maintain their health, keep them active and ready to learn and grow. We are in the process of making true leaders.

SENIOR CITIZEN’S SUPPORT
There are thousands of destitute visually challenged senior citizens in India who do not have access to two square meals or the means to meet their basic needs. One of our programs is to support old age families and ensure they receive monthly rations of wheat, rice, pulses, cooking oil and are also provided with necessities and monetary support. This provides them with much-needed sustenance making them independent.

ASSISTIVE DEVICES
Assistive Devices help visually challenged students access the general curriculum and improve their academic performance. We sponsor laptops with customized software, Braille reading & writing aids, white canes, and other assistive devices. Our team thoughtfully considers what devices, tools, and technologies will be appropriate to meet every student's unique individual learning needs.
